Feel Better in
Merino Wool

We’ve been working to perfect the merino wool sock since 2008. We believe our custom merino wool blend yarns make the best socks you’ll ever put on your feet.

The Natural Choice for Wellness & Performance

USA-grown merino wool is the most essential component of our socks. We strongly believe there’s no other fiber with better all-around health and performance characteristics than merino wool. In nature, wool helps keep a sheep warm in the winter and cool in the summer. In addition, it possesses great softness and durability and is sustainable. All of these natural characteristics make it the perfect fiber to keep your feet healthy, dry, and at the perfect temperature all year round.

Keeps your feet dry

Merino wool naturally absorbs and evaporates moisture throughout the day, unlike synthetic materials that tend to cause feet to sweat and provide no moisture management. So, while you may find your socks slightly moist at the end of a long day, your feet and shoes will stay dry. And when you take your shoes off, your wool socks, if damp, will be dry within minutes.

Regulates temperature

Like a well-insulated house, merino wool keeps your feet warmer in winter and cooler in summer. So how does it work? Without getting too technical, merino wool constantly absorbs and evaporates moisture. Wool can hold up to 30% of its weight in moisture, but unlike cotton, wool allows the moisture to freely evaporate. The result is a comfortable microclimate around your feet in all seasons.

Prevents odors

The bacteria that causes stinky feet loves to grow in warm, damp places—and if you’re wearing the wrong kind of socks, your shoe can become just that kind of place. Merino wool’s ability to absorb and evaporate moisture naturally impedes the growth of odor-causing bacteria by keeping your feet and shoes drier.

What's
a Micron?

Wool is measured in microns, a measure of the thickness of the fiber. Generally, the lower the micron, the softer the yarn. What makes our merino wool stand apart is the fine 20-micron fibers we use, compared to the more typical 23.5-24 micron fiber used by many companies. Four microns may not seem like a lot, but trust us, you’ll feel it in our socks.

Wellness for the Planet, Wellness for You

A Sustainable Choice

We’re all about quality over quantity. Depending on your lifestyle, a sock drawer filled with just five or ten pairs of well-made, merino wool socks can replace twenty or thirty pairs of cotton and synthetic alternatives and last you for years to come. What’s more, merino wool is biodegradable and renewable.

In addition, our merino wool is sourced, spun, and knitted into socks right here in the United States. Our U.S.-based merino wool supply chain greatly reduces our carbon footprint and supports local textile companies and farms right here at home. It’s part of our commitment to support American sheep farmers and the revitalization of the American textile industry.

From Ethically Raised Sheep

We source our merino wool from American farmers who adhere to the Five Freedoms of Animal Welfare: Freedom from Hunger & Thirst; Freedom from Discomfort; Freedom from Pain, Injury, or Disease; Freedom to Express Normal Behavior; and Freedom from Fear & Distress.

Our wool also comes from the Rambouilette sheep breed, which is not only known for its high-quality wool, but for having “smooth butts” versus wrinkles that other merino breeds have. This gives them a natural resistance to parasites and disease and eliminates the need for mulesing.

Yarn Architects: Blending Merino Wool to Enhance
Its Natural Benefits

Merino Wool + Bamboo Rayon

We didn’t invent the merino wool sock, but we certainly perfected it when we started spinning fine merino wool and bamboo rayon together back in 2008. Including bamboo rayon in our yarn blend adds sheen, softness, and breathability to our socks. Additionally, bamboo rayon takes and holds dye beautifully, allowing us to offer a rainbow of colors in our gorgeous line of socks.

Merino Wool + Alpaca

Around here, we like to refer to alpaca as “merino wool on steroids.” Take everything we love about merino wool—moisture and temperature management, odor prevention, and of course, softness—and then multiply it. That’s alpaca. Blending alpaca into our yarns enhances merino wools natural benefits and provides next level comfort. We feature this yarn in all of outdoor/hiking socks as well as socks designed to be especially warm and comfortable.
